City: Sancti Spiritus

Sancti Spiritus was the fourth founded by Diego Velazquez in 1514 by the Tuinucu River and later moved to the Yayabo River. The historic center of Sancti Spiritus city is characterized by the concentration, in a small area, of colonial architectural values, among them we found the oldest church in Cuba, the Parroquial Mayor founded in 1680 and the Main Theater, opened in 1837 and considered the oldest in the country. The museum house of the Serafin Sanchez family will inform you about the history of one of the heroes of struggles of the 19th Century. The History, Colonial Art, Decorative Arts and Romantic museums, the Casa de la Trova, the Fernandez Morera Gallery and the Jose Marti Provincial Library complete a cultural journey. At nighttime don’t miss visiting the Villa Los Laureles. At Yaguajay, you can visit the Camilo Cienfuegos museum with information of one of the most important heroes of the recent Cuban history.
